I just downloaded a Visual Studio Extension, that CRASHED my Visual Studio.
Couldnt load the start page, solution window or do any menu selection. So how can I uninstall the extension manually?
First option was to check the ”Total Uninstaller” that program lists everything for you (or I tought it did), check that project out, it’s awesome Total Installer
Second thought, how do I uninstall the extension manually, well that is through the vsixinstaller tool, so first depending on what Visual Studio you are running open up the Commando prompt for that Visual Studio Version, I was using 2013 in this case and that prompt can be found:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\Tools\Shortcuts
Then you can run the uninstall option together with the Visual studio extension identifier and that looks like this: vsixinstaller /q /a /u:EXTENSIONIDENTIERHERE
What is the extension identifier?
Download the extension from msdn, open up the folder location, change the ending on the extension file from .vsix to .rar. Unzip the folder and open upp the .vsixmanifest and look for the <Identifier> tag and that tag has an attribute Id and that value is the identifier for that extension.
